When asked, most people will tell you that the worst hand in texas holdem is 7 3 offsuit or 8 4 offsuit. Well this isn't the case.
The worst hand in texas holdem is - the second best hand at the table.
You won't lose half your stack with 7 3 offsuit, but those pocket 10's could clean you out.
Knowing when to fold is the best skill a poker player can learn - you need to think about what other people are likely to be betting on - pocket 10's may be nice but if the flop is KKA then you are in trouble.
The best texas holdem skills anyone can learn is knowing when to fold a good hand.
Texas Holdem Tip 4 - low stakes tournements
Low stakes tournements are notoriously bad for texas holdem players. Why? Because until the buy ins close they are a nightmare of an all-in fest!!
Because the stakes are low, people are more willing to take risks - so instead of betting normally, they will simply throw all their chips in.
For you, this means the game is a nightmare to play - hands that you otherwise might play with need to be folded. However there is a flip side.
A patient texas holdem player can bide his time during the frantic all in period of the game - a few choice plays can increase your stack and secure your place in the closing rounds of the tournement.
