Texas Holdem Tips - Page 1It's kinda hard to quantify texas holdem tips - each game is different and each player is different. One of the best tips I can suggest for Texas Holdem is to not get too involved in the game. Not that you shouldn't pay attention or you should try to be indifferent - more that bad hands happen (as do good ones) - the idea is to take it all in your stride and concentrate on the hand in front of you. Texas Holdem tip 1 - on a tiltOne common reference to playing badly that poker plays will make is known as being on a tilt. This basically means that your play style has altered due to the turn of the game. For example, it is common in texas holdem to get a run of bad hands (or even bad beats - where a good hand has been beaten late in the game by a lucky draw). As this happens you may find yourself getting frustrated and betting...well, like an ass. That is playing hands you otherwise wouldn't play or betting at times where you really shouldn't be. So our top texas holdem tip - don't play when your emotions run high! Yes, there's a lot of skill involved in texas holdem, but there are times where luck is the prevailing factor. Just accept that fact and don't let it affect your game. Texas Holdem tip 2 - playing the advantageJust as it is possible for you to be on a tilt, your opponents can also face the same frustrations and make the same stupid moves in texas holdem. Take advantage of this! Did someone just land a bad beat and now come in short stacked, all in blind? Chances are they are just trying to buy a pot out (or in low stake games, maybe they've just had enough and want out). Either way, if you have a reasonable hand to play it's worth giving it a shot. However, don't be fooled into thinking that just because someone is playing with their emotions that they will lose - some good players can use this to lure people into a false sense of security. You need to make the judgement call.
